Hey Guys
I have a marshall jmp-1 preamp and could get a pretty good deal on a mesa 20/20 power amp, it runs at 4 and 8 ohms, but the only cab I have is crate blackheart (yeah you can laugh)12" that runs at 16 ohms and that can handle 75 watts. I've heard different opinions on running power amps with cabs, some say resistance must match, some say it's ok if the cab has equal or more ohms than the power amp... so would this setup be ok? Of course my goal down the road is to buy a good 2x12 loaded with vintage 30s

I would just buy it, and buy a small 16 ohm speaker to wire it in parralel and make it 8 ohms, and just shove the small speaker in the cab somewhere

Well actually the 2 questions I meant to ask were:
1- can I run the 8 ohm power amp out to a 16 ohm cab
2- will this particular cab sound any good for recording (temporarly)

i dont know if you would. it might blow the preamp? i have no idea. i know you cant for an amp running on powertubes. but i would research it or call a mesa dealer and ask to get a professional answer.
