Did anyone else used to be an Apple fanboy? I used to swear by Apple's products, but this is the last straw. First of all, I bought a new iPhone recently (I got original on the launch day, and loved it with all my heart), you know, the one that has last year's industry standard: 3G. It sucks, the battery life is way shorter, it skips when you use it for music (old one never did), it crashes all the time and even my dad who would never say ANYTHING bad about the iPhone (he had an unhealthy obsession with the original) can't stand his. But here's the thing that really pissed me off. I have always used iMovie for video editing, I never needed anything better than that because it had all the basics: A decent range of effects (slow motion and blurr), a decent range of transitions and titles, and it worked. Now I UPgraded to iMovie 08 and it has NONE of this. No effects, no slow motion, only about 4 different titles, like 3 transitions (only 1 of which doesn't look completely obnoxious) and did I mention NO effects? The original iMovie, yes that's right, the very first ever, had about 20 different effects. The new one was designed for a complete moron. I can't use old iMovie bcause I just recently got a nice camera, so it won't work. /vent

tl;dr Anyone else starting to hate Apple?

ps. I am currently waiting for some skateboarding footage to upload, it just crashed so the 40 minutes I waited now have to be re-waited. My dad says this is because my computer is two years old.

Well I can, but I can't because it doesn't support my HD camera. I'm going to get some editing software designed for use by people, not monkeys, in the future.

Macs are personal computers too ahhh!!!
Yeah I prefer Windows but I think Macs are cool too. I just hate iPods. The iTouch is cool though. The iPhone owns every other touch screen phone too.
#6
I always thought Macs were made so over simplified that doing anything other than the bare minimum was impossible because they figure people don't have the intelligence to want to do something difficult. Now with Vista Windows has followed suit, so I've recently made the step into the world of Linux and it's not even worth looking back.

Well, personally, I hate iPods because they're overpriced pieces of garbage... but that's just my opinion.

Few people use them due to the fact that they have few people who write viruses for them. It's basically like they took Linux and turned it into junk. I would not say this about such a usually respected enterprise, Steve Jobs is cool, unless i did give it a serious test and look at it. I tested it and crashed the system with very little effort. i also find zero use for a mouse with only one button. If i was talking bad about it with out actually analyzing the stability and the ability of a Mac, I'd be a ****tard. I use iTunes and I'll say that its a decent program. Foobar2000 is by far better and faster to use since its actually made for windows. looking into it the only use i could possibly find for a Mac is to manage music on your iPod with iTunes. other than that you can't use it for much else due to the stability issue. Vista is very unstable as most know by now, and XP is pretty stable...not amazing though. The Linux operating systems are extremly stable and difficult to crash. I build computers and i've been taught a lot of tricks and whatnot from him and others whom i know as well as self taught and trial/error. Thanks for the comment about the short bus...my cousin is deaf with CP.

Thank you for typing In a format I can easily read. The mac os, like linux, is based on unix. I believe you tested a mac 4-8 years old.. which seemed to crash very easily, and came with a mouse with one button.

The new macs, however, at least I find, they do not crash very easily. The current mouse that comes with macs, is not one button.. It has a scroll, left, middle, right click buttons. Though this isn't worth discussing, really.. If you don't like the mouse, then plug in a different one. I didn't like the ball mouse that came with my pc.. does that mean that the computer manufacturer is not as good as others?

I didn't mean to offend you with my (what I now realize was a) hurtful comment. For that i apologize.

Also, sorry, I know my English in this reply isn't very good.. It is 2am and I'm tired.

I never liked Apple much, their desktops are high in price for what you get and they require specific parts...

I got the Apple iPod Touch 8GB a few months ago and am already having problems with the screen flickering, It probably wont last too long but I plan on putting it on ebay anyways...

oh yea and battery live sux as well due to it trying to power such a large screen....
I recharge mine every 6-8 hours

BTW I believe the new Adobe Premiere CS3 works on MAC, its originally a PC only software but now its a hybrid and has a ton of features which im sure you would like and use. I use CS3 for all my movie ending on a PC and love it although you need a fast processor and loads of memory to run any type of HD camera and NLE.
You can also go with Final Cut Pro on a Mac, the program is great, I use it at the college and at work. Its quickly taking the price of Avid video editor which is the same company that owns ProTools...

so what TS is trying to say, is that because of little iphones bugs (which have been mostly fixed by 2.0.1) and a flop version of iMovie , he no suddenly hates apple?

I own a 1. Gen iPod Nano, 16Gb iPod Touch, 16Gb iPhone 3g and a 8 month old intel imac. my dad has a 9 month old mac book pro and an "old" imac G5. we used to have an ibook G3 and and imac G3 and in all the years we have been using apple products we have not had one single serious issue with any of their them.

I have owned 2 iPods, first one was great, no problems.

Second one just broke one day, so I sent it back and it came back with this massive ****ing dent in it and they said the warranty doesn't cover that. So me and my step-dad phoned up and complained saying the dent wasnt there when we packed it up. Any way, the guy on the phone said they are supposed to take pictures of the iPods so he looked up for mine and said they hadnt taken any.

Fishy, eh?
So he said "Apple are very sorry and we wil fix your iPod free of charge".
Moral of the story? Complain and companies give in.

I wouldn't buy another of their products though, they are too fragile and expensive. I don't have a mac either.

My first one was an 8gb nano and that got squished in my pocket when I was playing drums at a gig with my band (I know, I know, that was my fault) but my second was an 80gb Classic and just fell apart, I think mine was just dodgy though from the start.

Nah, I love Apple. I bought recently Apple Logic and it's amazing. I also have iPod Touch, which kicks ass as well.

I just hate iTunes, and the way that when you install iPod software on a PC is has like 4 background processes running when you start windows..

I mean, I have a creative 40gb rio, it has 1 background process running using a total of 670kb, at the moment various iPod crap has over 14mb of processes running... And thats without the ghey "bonjour service".

I hate Apple. I hate their AAC files which can't be converted by Windows Media Player, I hate the fact that Logic Studio has not been able to run on Windows since version 6.

Yet I'll be buying a Mac just to run Logic, so I guess what they're doing works

Ipod battery was far worse a while back, seems to have improved, Creative is still better I'm sure. And my brother's Mac battery is pretty poor to be honest.

Oh god you have completely opened my mind to the f*cktardedness that is Apple. Entry level software for beginners doesn't have the features you want.

I like my first gen iPod Nano, its scratched and dented through 3 years of abuse, but it has more than enough space for my collection, plus it still works fine. OS X works just fine for me, but I'm using all three. Linux for Web Dev, OS X for any audio/video/image work, and Vista for gaming.

I'm using an iMac right now and it's basically the definition of sex.

I wouldn't want an iPhone, though. Sure, if somebody gave it to me for free, I'd accept it, but I wouldn't pay money for it myself. I do, however, own an 80 gb iPod and it works perfectly; there's nothing wrong with it at all and I've had it for almost a year.
Also, with iMovie '08. That thing sucked. I downgraded back to iMovie '06 and it works a lot better. But Garageband '08 is better than the previous version, and so is iPhoto. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the Apple products that I have.
