I'm planning on starting electric guitar, a shift from my acoustic guitar playing. I like jazz, funk, math rock, and a bit of everything else.
I mostly listen to musicians like "Kaki King" , "Toe" , "Maserati" , "Mute Math" , "Joe Pass" , and "Explosions in the Sky" to mention some off the top of my head.. And I need a place to start with.. Since all these new information being crammed in my head's making me all confused.. I've included links on their names since some of the artists are difficult to find.. At least when I was looking for any copies of their songs online.. and the search bar is not my strong pursuit..

I've been playing for about a year and a half now on acoustic and I am keeping up with "Carmine Street" by Kaki King and could play "Night After Sidewalk" by Kaki King and "Classical Gas" by Mason Williams. I know they're not that "impressive", but these are the most challenging pieces on my level that I can play.

I'm willing to spend $1,300 on both the axe and the amp. I just don't know where to start and which ones to get... And please don't tell me to use the search button... I know it's there.. but I was hoping one could help me based on the music I like and the money I'm semi-willing to spent (that's all my summer job moneyyyyy!! lol!!)

So yeah.. help?

Hmm, i'll say a Single-Coil Fender Stratocaster would be good for funk and jazz, but do check out the guitar store nearby you to get a taste of playing an electric guitar. Anyway, i'm assuming u are spending USD 1,300 so here's a list u can choose from:

Agile AL-3100 = $400
Fender Hotrod Deluxe= $700
With the left over $200, get a nice leather strap, straplocks, a pedal(wah looper ect,) picks, capo, tuner, ect. ect.
EDIT: If you need single coil sounds, you could install a coil tap on the guitar. I'm not shure if the agile pickups are coil tappable though.
