Hey guys, first post.

I know you get like 1000000000000 of these, but i feel your help is necassary.

I've been playing guitar just over 1 and a half years, and would like to upgrade my guitar. I currently have an Alba strat, which i think sounds good, but im looking for more. I really like the glassy cleans that you can get from strats, as well as how they feel. I like music like Incubus, Muse, The Mars Volta, Biffy Clyro, Queens of the Stoneage and Rage Against the Machine. I especially like Mike's tone from Incubus. My budget is about £250-£500, £600-£700 at a stretc

My rig is The strat ----> Boss GT-8 ----> Roland Micro Cube.

I don't necasserally need a new amp as i don't gig and i find the cube is sufficiant for practice. If i ever gig, it's at school and its using someone elses amp. plus i already know what i want amp-wise (Laney VC-30).

I was thinking that maybe an HSS strat of some kind might be more to my needs?

Thanks
Dave.

why not just get a Mexican made stratocaster then? or look on eBay for an American one, or go for try the yamaha pacifica 812v they are meant to be just as good if not better than most fender guitars. Can I actually just ask what the boss gt-8 is like with the microcube? I am looking into getting one

Walk into a music shop and test guitars. Then walk into the next music shop and test theirs. Repeat until satisfaction is reached.

Trying to find a guitar that fits YOU by asking people on the internet is a complete waste of time. You, and only you, will know what is right for you. And by finding your next guitar, you will have the pleasure of play-testing quite a few fine (and not so fine) examples which is not only fun, but will also make you more experienced.

Thanks for replying so quickly. A nice variety of responses. I only really play the GT-8 through headphones, so i can't really comment. I know about what your saying, that only i can choose the right guitar. I'm just asking for suggestions for guitars to look at, not a decision.

Thanks
Dave

Edit:Please keep suggestions coming.

probably a telecaster, you might want to get one with a humbucker in it.

I never used to think it sounded good, but once you fiddle around with it, get the sound you want, it sounds great. And yeah it's really eay to use, looks like you've just got an amp head and some stomp boxes.

Dave

Edit: looks like tele maybe what i need, any other suggestions?
