basic major scale - Tone, tone, semitone, tone, tone, tone, semitone. If you were to play a song in the key of A you would have A, B, C#, D, E, F#, G#, A.

so just use those chords? and what if it's minor

FAR FAR from it.
Infact thats only the major scale, it has nothing to do with the chords in A.
