Does anyone know how I might find a black explorer with an ebony fretboard?

I know Gibson does one, but only when it's white.

And I don't want a custom shop, or an Ibanez, Jackson, or Hamer.

Last thread didn't help eh? Well there's probably not much you can do except search everywhere for one, such as craigslist, ebay, and whatnot. Good luck man.

Just get a white, and do what The Rolling Stones said to do, Paint it Black.
Lets jump in a pool

Yeah, sorry about the repeat, I realized it right after I posted this. I have my moments of mental failure.

I am broadening my search though. I'm not being so finnicky with the hardware configuration, or even the pickguard.

But I still desperately want that ebony fretboard, on a black guitar. White can be sexy too, though.

Thanks again for all the help.

Well what you could do is dye the fretboard if you just want the look, it wont feel like ebony though.

I would buy the white explorer, strip the paint and paint it black. I like the explorer, but the white is too off white for me. I will be refinishing it in the future, when the white fades or gets damaged;

check out edwards by esp they make gibson copies that look good and you might be able to find a explorer model with a ebony fretboard. They make 335 copies with ebony

I suppose I could do that, but there'd only be two problems...

I don't know how to do it myself, so I'd probably mess up or do a horrible job. And isn't it pretty damn expensive to get it done professionally?

There's a million threads on painting in the mods forum. All step by step.

Hmm... I'd still probably suck at it, but it's worth a shot.

I might turn this into a whole project of changing something into a real custom guitar.

Changing the paint job, from white to black.

Changing the pickguard from white to a brushed metal one (need to find where to get one).

Changing the pickups to SD Blackouts.
