I was wondering how many of you listen to metal bands with both a guy and a girl singing. Preferably with the guy screaming and the girl singing either normally\opera-like. NOT Evanesseance or whatever.

And if you could name a few bands for me like thsi, that would be great.
I actually do have schizophrenia, so stop making fun of people who have it.

Chthonic had some guest clean female vocals on the "Seediq Bale" album. Persefone's "Core" concept album also had some female vocals, that one's highly recommended. Kalisia. Make A Change...Kill Yourself had female vocals on the self-titled, I don't know about the other album but "Chapter Three" from the s/t is epic as all hell especially with the female vocals behind the black metal shrieks. Seraphim. Dalriada (formerly Echo of Dalriada).

Some of these have clean vocals for both (like Onmyouza which I previously mentioned, they have harsh vocals only very rarely) so if you're looking for harsh vocals then Virgin Black, Augury, Make A Change...Kill Yourself and Persefone are highly recommended.

^ Paul Masvidal is not a girl.

Uhh, have you ever listened to Focus?
#16
^One of the songs on there is sung completely by a woman and there are female backing vocals in the other songs.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned After Forever or Tristania yet?

EDIT: Oh, Cradle of Filth too, I'm pretty sure I'm the only person here who likes them.

SO if Janne and Alexi did a gay porn, would I be the only one willing to buy it?

That's a dumb question, you know everyone in here would buy it too. I know I would!

Technically it was sung for the band "Portal" which sorta flopped and they just put the three best songs from the album (in their opinion) on Focus as a bonus. Technically its not Focus, but it has female vocals in the bonus tracks.

So yes and no.

I don't have the bonus tracks, I was referring to Sentiment.

I'm looking for something with the guy and girl parts about equal, and the guy doing mainly\all "screaming" vocals with the female. I heard a song like it eariler today and haven't found a band that does it yet.

This is the type of screaming I'm looking for actually, but with Girls singing clean parts at points in the songs.

...oh. In that case, you should go here: https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=41

That's metalcore, not metal. With vocals being one of the differences between one of the genres (not the only one obviously) you probably won't find what you're looking for here unless it's on a technicality (like Ephel Duath or something) and even then I don't know how you'd find something with female vocals too.

Just in the interest of trying to help you out I still recommend a song like "Progeny of Rmdaxtasing" by Chthonic or "Sanctuary: Light and Grief" by Persefone though it might not really be your style, or at least what you're looking for.

Someone mentioned Unexpect and they might be worth a look too. Else, good luck in the Hardcore forum.

Dark Tranquillity's Of Melancholy Burning, The Gallery, A Bolt of Blazing Gold and Insanity's Crescendo should suffice, gogogogo

Unless you're only looking for male screamers or growlers, check the rec. thread for some gothic bands.

^ TS is looking for metalcore.
Lucky for him, most metalcore singers sound like chicks.

Draconian, maybe? I rarely listen to them, so don't quote me on it.

Why are you stealing my thoughts? Great band.

Draconian is Swedish doom, TS.

Check out the song Dead End by In Flames. I think this is exactly what you're looking for.

Edit: Though this is the only song by In Flames like that, to my knowledge. I also know that Eluveitie has some female singing as well as male growling, dunno if they were mentioned yet.

Draconian
