was at belfast guitar emporium trying out guitars with a mate and i saw this hot rodded fender strat. had a look at it, it had birdseye maple neck, graphtech nut, schaller straplocks and tuners, a seymour duncan hot rails with coil split in the bridge and string saver saddles on. expecting it to be at least a grand but it was 400 used so i bought it. what i want to know is what kind of strat is it? mexican, american etc. the only thing i can see that makes me think its american is a two point synchronised tremolo.

Yeah, either post up some pics or check the serial number out!

It could be an American for £400 - they are only around £700 new, so if its been well modified, it might be.

I doubt the GE would try and sell a Mexican for £400...

Regardless, just looking at the spec, it seems that you've got a nice guitar there. Any chance of some pics? You know that it's illegal to post a new guitar thread without pictures, right?

pics coming now, hafta resize them first. the problem with looking up the serial is that the neck is aftermarket, one of the guys said allparts, the other said mightymite. theyres no markings at all on the back of the neck, and just the "fender" logo, "with synchronised tremolo", 5 patent numbers and "original contour body pat pend" on the front

It can be a custom project from someone, too. Fender parts are not hard to find.

like greased lightnin! the actions just right and all the frets are finished perfectly. and to hminh87, thats the same thing i thought when i heard the price and about the aftermarket neck, but the sales dude assured me the rest is fender. but then again they did think the coil split was a mid boost switch.........

yeah it might just be a project or some kind of frankenstein strat
regardless, that's a nice axe

theyres been a bit of earth hum about this guitar, but its getting worse, so i took the hood off. first off, its a swimming pool rout, if that helps determine what breed of strat this is, and the date under the neck reads "JAN 14 1997".

and if any wiring experts are hanging around ug, please make yourself known! i would like to run the wiring past someone who know what theyre talking about. like why there are two earth wires, one going to the spring claw and the other screwed down at the bottom right of the swimming pool.

the neck is also a licenced by fender mightymite neck.

consult the gear building thread for wiring advice, also i've never seen a genuine fender with a pool route, even the HH fat-strats have humbucker routes with a thin channel in between for wiring

i havent seen EVERY strat made so i might be mistaken in saying its a mightymite or allparts, maybe warmoth body.

that body's from a mexican strat because it's got the hole under the pickguard.

you mean that thick hole you can stick a thumb in? My MIM has 2 of those but mine in an '05.

what, is there no Serial Number to be found?

good looking guitar tho

i can see a bit of a serial number at the neck joint when the necks off, but the only legible numbers are the last three "007". i kid you not.
