Some of you might remember that I posted a few days ago asking how often I should change my strings..

Well ironically, 5 minutes ago I just snapped my High E

So I have another question

I was going to replace all the strings anyway because they were crappy stock strings, is there any particular (i hesitate to use the word 'best) brand of string that would be good?

Cheers,

Jay

I prefer barbed wire strings. I find I can get the most br00t41 tonez with it.

Oh, is there any way of finding out what gauge the strings are?

Mine came with the guitar so I guess they're probably factory issue or something.

Oh, how do you work out gauge thickness?

My low e is about 1mm thick, what would that equate to?

Elixier Anti Rust Polywebs.
By far, the best strings I've used, and I've used ALOT of different strings.

EDIT-The string gauge depends on what guitar it is. Some manufactuers (Can't spell lol) put 9's, and some put 10's. It all comes down to preferance, there might be other strings that feel better to you. Also depends on what tuning you're in.

I used to use Ernie Ball strings a lot but then I had a go with some D'addario's and never went back. Much better sounds, better feel and they last longer IMO.

DR strings are awesome too.
Flap it and enjoy yourself...
