well there has been a lot in the media as well as in the forums about how the new generation (my generation, 21 and younger) is the dumbest generation ever. I think that it's a bunch of crap and this video expresses how i feel. I agree with him whole-heartedly and even if you don't agree with it still watch the whole thing and discuss, I think it's interesting even if you disagree.

I don't know where this "media" has been, but I've been told that our generation is brilliant. We are basically the first batch of Computer age kids therefore we have more access to more information.

Note: Can't watch vid I'm at work.

I think our generation is the same as any generation before. I just think that maybe the differences between the intellectuals and non-intellectuals have radicalized. As in the dumb are dumber than ever and the intellectual are smarter that ever, because they can use the given information on the internet effectively.
#5
I dont know, I mean sure there are some people in are generation that are really smart, but the majority of people I know could care less about learning or anything other then whats cool at the moment. Also access to information dosen't mean we are automatically smarter, most people will look up funny video's or pictures rather then researching anything.

That's funny, the British media were saying how A-level results are increasing at a record high with more students are getting straight A's.

The British school system is dead easy. They really have low expectations for everyone. When i did my SATs exams like 3 years ago, i got a level 7 and i had only spoken the language for 2 years then. Apparently, most Brits aged 14-15 get a level 5 or 6 on average

I read a lot of newspapers and other media, and I haven't heard anything about the young generation being the dumbest, at least not in legitimate media. In fact, I've read a great deal about youngsters these days being, as a whole, the most over-educated generation in American history (for instance, I'll have a doctorate in less than a year, and I'm still getting another degree right afterward).

Your likely false claim that there are widespread media reports that "the new generation (my generation, 21 and younger) is the dumbest generation ever" makes me suspect people accuse you in particular of being dumb, not your generation. The fact that you cite a video of a fat, hairy guy chewing on a plastic fork buttresses this suspicion.

you're missing the point of the video. why shouldn't we just watch funny youtube videos? We aren't the ones f*cking up the world with war, our generation is just sitting back as an audience to the chaos that the older generations have created. Older generations tell us that we're getting less intellegent, but we aren't the generation that got us stuck in vietnam, or in the middle eastern conflicts. We're just sitting here on a bomb waiting for the older generation to die and to inherit the problems they've created. The "dumb people" of our generation don't understand what's going on in politics or with the war, but what's wrong with that? what's wrong with not understanding something pointless or corrupt? If our generation doesn't understand the point of the conflicts then maybe there's hope for the future. If we don't understand it once we inherit the world maybe we can end the conflict.

Again everything said here is a matter of opinion, counterpoints are for the better.

I don't know what that means. Is that even a coherent sentence? Jesus, maybe this is why there are supposedly widespread retardation reports. Slow down, son. Take a deep breath and try to come up with a coherent thought.

Our generation must by far be the laziest and spoiled generation. Most of us, at least in Sweden and other parts of Europe get pretty much anything we point at. I doubt our parents etc had the same opportunities.

it depends on the generation before have control over their kids if their kids don't want to do anywork and just laze about then its a stupid generation if the kids want to work and want have a good life then its a clever generation this varies over the years the newest generation being born this year i'm sorry to say might be as thick as pig sh*t

Shut the **** up. Of course that was coherent. What the **** is your problem?

Also don't try and patronise me by calling me 'son'. You idiot. I'm older than you.

Seriously, what I said wasn't hard to understand. A sixteen year old and a 22 year old are of the same generation. A six year age gap is not a generation.

You are a right peice of work, jumping donw my throat for making an (accurate) observation. Get the **** off your high horse.

It means that to a 22 year old a 16 year old person wouldn't be of a different generation because they were born within 6 years of them, very easily within their generation. Is that that to understand?

Anyone can say 'Oh look education has gone down hill now' and pretend to be any age I'm fairly confident you are under 20. If you aren't you have serious problems.

As far as 'my dad can kick your dad's arse' mentality, you are the one who insists on using the term 'son'.

Basically, our generation is the most informed of all the generations. We study things in highschool that people used to study in college, and the murders rate has never been so low.
So I'm going to disagree with our generation being the dumbest one.

True. In Argentina, that 6 years gap is HUGE. MY generation (I'm almost 20 years old) dresses usual. However, between the younger generation, there's a new trend called "flogger".
This is the description by wiki
Flogger is a teenager fashion originated in Russia, which is closely related to Fotolog, a photoblog web site. They are also very common in Argentina. Emerged from the glam fashion, it has become very popular among young people, to almost become a craze. The style is principally composed of tight jeans or joggings on males and females alike, broad V-neck T-shirts, fluorescent colors, canvas sneakers or skate shoes, long fringe brushed to one side of the face or over one eye, straight hair and horn-rimmed glasses. It is also common to call "floggers" any adolescents followers of this style.

This fashion has also developed a particular way of dancing called Electro. The moves, closely related to the folk malambo, consist of rapidly spreading one leg, hitting the floor with the heel, and drawing the other leg backwards, and then quickly changing the position of the legs (spreading the other leg, and shifting backwards the one that was spread).

The gap between we and their way of dressing and thinking is amazing.
This is a flogger:

What bothers me about them, is that they have no individuality. Believe me, they all dress the same. They all act the same. They all dance "techno", and take pics everywhere to post them in a "fotolog". Then they bug the hell out of everyone to post in their fotolog. They even have nicks such as "I exchange two sigs for one sig".
Youtube them. You're going to have a good laugh.
