After reading around I decided I want one of these heads. The only difference I could find is the 600H has 575 RMS output and the 300H has 307 RMS output. The cab I want (the ashdown 410T 4x10) says it has 450w continuous power handling. Does this mean that it would only be able to handle the 300H and the 600H would overload it or something?

Yeah the 600H will overload that cab, 307 watts is plenty enough though

So what reason is there to get the 300 over the 600

No. The cab is 8 ohms and the 600H is around 300 watts at 8 ohms. It will work just fine.

yep, just make sure you run the head at 8 ohms, only run it at 4 ohms with a full stack

The cab will be fine with the 600W head. They're identical apart from the output section. The 600W head should be running at around 425W RMS with a single 8 ohm cab.

How do you choose whether you're running the cab at 8 or 4 ohms?

the cab ohms are set, the head should have different output jacks for each

Doesnt it run at 4 and 8 ohms so if you plug in a n 8 ohm cab it will run at 8 ohms and then when you connect up the second 8 ohm ca it runs at 4 ohms and thus at full capacity.

Thanks - that answers my question
I guess if you were using a 4 ohm cabinet (Like the Ashdown ABM 410), you'd only ever use one of the jacks.
I think I'd rather have a 350W 4x10 and a 250W 1x15 running at 8 ohms each than a single 600W 4x10 at 4 ohms though.

The ABM cab is 8 ohms. I believe they did a 4 ohm version (it's just slightly different wiring, after all) but I don't think they do now.
