right, my band at the moment are producing pretty plain powerchord stuff and it sounds alright but could use some more skill and technique

now avenged sevenfold in burn it down after the heavy intro play a high arpeggio lick

i want to know what they are doing, because the guitarist are playing i think a different key?

but yet they both sound REALLY good together

are they playing fourths? fiths? any ideas?

cheers

both zacky n syn are playing different but similar things... both guitars in in harmony, which is why it sounds good.

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/lessons/guitar_techniques/guitar_harmony.html heres a link to a harmony lesson on here, has 5 stars, but i havent looked at it personally.

but, youll probably need a decent understanding of the circle of fifths in order to do this in other keys. not a brilliant knowledge, but good enough so you could write out the CO5s on a piece of paper, with all the keys and which notes are in which key (along with relative minors)

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/lessons/the_basics/the_circle_of_fifths_music_theory_for_dummies.html a link to a lesson on here.. again, ive not read the lesson...

https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=835224&highlight=co5 ive also explained the CO5s in this thread, probably not to a brilliant understanding though...
