hey everybody,

its my 18th next month and i've figured out that i'm going to have about £650 or $1200

what i am looking for is a HEAD and CAB,

i know combo's are more affordable, but i have access to several high quality cabs at my school for recording work which is what i will use it for, as well as live work

for the head i'd like something with enough punch for small/medium gigs. i've got a ****ty amp for home practice, so no worries there

so say about 30 - 50 watt tube?

but the cab doesnt need to be 4X12 a 2X2 would be ideal

i play high gain metal, but versatility would be liked, i play everything from Dillinger Escape Plan to Muse to Blur,

i've got some ideas of what i'd like to get but i want to see if you guys come up with similar ideas as i did,

as well as maybe even betters ones than mine

i'm looking at second hand as well and am happy to mix and match brand heads and cabs

thank you for your time

Tom

Buy a nice head and build your own cab. You could even just make a single speaker cab for it with the cone from your existing amp until you can afford more (plus you said you had the cabs at school to use).

peavey 6505 is apaz excellent, altho way over your wattage range at 12o watts. If that isnt your kinda thing, look at used ENGL (if there is anything) Mesa, laney GH or VR for heads. Cabs... well for gd value look at framus and marshall. Harley Benton (thomann) do a 4x12 with vintage 30's for £250

Couldnt ya just buy a combo and when its neccisary just use the speaker output and plug into the cab, just a suggestion like.

Because in terms of stacks, £650 isnt that much to play with at all. Unless you could do without a cab for a while (or pick up a **** cheapo one), even then youd be struggling.

This would probably do you, seeing as its v30s.
