Name the type of music you play when you make your own stuff up

For example.

I play blues, classic rock, and thrash metal sounding music when I play my own stuff.

This is probably due to the fact that Jimi Hendrix is one of my favorite guitarists and I like a lot of older Metallica.

Edit: oh and on acoustic i play classical guitar ( thats my Randy Rhoads influence)

my style's mainly influenced by stuff like Cynic, Necrophagist, Ron Jarzombek, and stuff like that.

EDIT: i also have a band that's sort of like Agalloch or Alcest or something; i have sort of a black metal influence too i guess.

Guitar: mostly jazz, and occasionally pop rock and metal.
Violin: baroque (Bach only) to romantic era classical.

...modes and scales are still useless.

I don't restrict myself to any one style of music. I play what I feel.

If I had to classify what I mainly then probably rock/alternative rock.

It sounds metallish, strains of melo-death and other things I can't pick out.
When I play acoustically it usually sounds kind of melancholy.

I play the baritone in my school band. I kind of grew away from the guitar...

The only advantage of home-schooling is that it gives you good reason to commit suicide.

Hit this once or twice, and you'll be twice as nice.

Electric guitar - Punk, Pop-punk, Blues, Ska, Classic Rock, Blues Rock, some Jazz.
Acoustic guitar - Blues, Folk, Acoustic versions of anything in the above genres.
Harmonica - Blues, Folk.

That's the main stuff, although not everything.

Pretty much all I listen to is thrash, but I can't come up with thrash riffs worth a ****! The stuff I come up with is usually more like hard rock or something.

I can't in anyway say that what I produce with my guitar is actually music. It's more like a series of sounds that are vaguely similar to songs you've heard.
#29
I generally play Punk, Hard Rock, and Alternative styles, but I also do some Blues and Funk every now and then.

Heavy metal, thrash metal, metal ballads, blues.
Influenced by Metallica, Megadeth and Testament.
The way i see it, the music you write depends on what mood your in.

I'll write most anything. On my own, I compose for string quartets, electronic music and aggrotech. My "colleague" and I are working on a piano concerto, and a few metal songs (in the vein of Unexpect and Ne Obliviscaris).

I also have a few friends interested in indie film, so I'm working on a soundtrack for their latest movie, much of which is either modern rock or electronic.

Yeah you are right imo. I usually write kind of sad stuff. I play more like a bluesy type sad then emo though. Sometimes I can get really emotional with my guitar.
