I have been playing for 3 months now and i have had nobody comment on my progress i was just wanting someone to comment on my progress. Here is what i can do:
All Major, Minor,Dominant 7th chords
F barre chord, B Barre chord
Pentatonic scale, minor scale, blues scale
i can do those with ease

i can do hammer-ons, pull-offs, sliding, bends but not perfectlly
i know a bit of theory(NOT MUCH!)
the best songs i can play are
Stairway to Heaven-Led Zep(APART FROM SOLO BUT I CAN DO A BIT OF THE SOLO)
Hey Joe-Jimi
Purple Haze-Jimi
Sunshine of your love solo
Part of November Rain solos 1,2&3
Thanks please comment!

You seem to be on a very good start.

Tell us some bands you like to listen to. And yeah, I meant from a teacher.

Songs to try:

-Sweet Child of Mine (the solo is tough, but try it)

-Enter Sandman (avoid the solo)

-Kashmir by led Zeppelin is a great chord exercise, try playing that a little bit.

-Behind Blue Eyes by The Who has some easy chord changes but generally is a great picking exercise.

-Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, easy (but great) solo with lots of techniques involved, great to practice.

Those are my suggestions, other than that just keep playing

UG has a lot of good lessons on theory in the lessons section. also its good to have a few good books and take classes(i am gonna take AP music theory and i have a bunch of theory books laying around)
#18
the lessons on UG are quite hard to understand i think
link me to some websites for theory OR
link me to a good theory book on amazon or something

Search for the 'Crusade' articles on the main page. They're good.

You were about like me actually,if you could record yourself it would be great,so we can find stuff for you to practice, because maybe your not as good at the songs as you thought you were.

look up "the spider" practice riff, that will keep you busy and really work your picking and fingering technique .I've spent a long time on that one.
#24
till about 2 weeks ago i only fingerpicked
but i have started to use my pick now
i havent mastered it yet though any suggestions to get my picking technique right?
#27
damn cool it man I watched your video and it needs some work, just hold your pick how it feels comfortable to you,and well im not sure about different picking techniques i just play
meh

When someone lists what they can do, it's utter nonsense. What you think you can play and what you can actually play early on are very different things. Try recording a video of yourself, listening to it back, then listening to the actual song.

Just enjoy the instrument and enjoy your progress and try to utilise effective practise.
