I have been looking for a pedal to make my Peavey Valveking 112 sound passable at high volumes. I am looking for an 80s and 90s thrash metal tone. More specifically, a tone like Megadeths circa ' So Far So good So Waht' and 'Rust in Peace.' I have found the following and want to know which one would be best.

-Digitech Bad Monkey: http://www.guitarcenter.com/DigiTech-DBM-Bad-Monkey-Overdrive-Guitar-Effects-Pedal-102670239-i1124375.gc

-Ibanez SM7 Smash Box: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-SM7-Smash-Box-Pedal-150290-i1124255.gc

-BOSS DS1 Distortion: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Boss-DS-1-Distortion-Pedal-100086787-i1124466.gc

-Ibanez SM7 Tube Screamer: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-TS7-Tubescreamer-Pedal-150286-i1124253.gc

Price range is up to $50

Bad Monkey should get you there...

I heard it was good, but GC's sound samples sound alternative and punk rock-y instead of metal-y.

Your looking for a clean boost Level 10 Gain 0 so clips wont help. Turn the gain boost off on your amp, set amp gain at 6-8 and pedal settings as stated and your good to go.

Alright, thanks. I think I will get a Bad Monkey.

seriously the ibanez ts7 is your best bet for under $50

cheaper than the badmonkey plus its got the same chip as the 808. $3 in parts + 5 minutes and youve got yourself what is essentially a ts808 for a third of the price

get a cheap marshall... my MG15DFX has a button that simulates the sound of one of the expensive tube marshall amps.

I have a broadened budget now, so i can go up to $70. How would a digitech DEATH METAL pedal do for my megadeth-like tone. I am searching for the tone in This video used by dave mustaine.

Dear god no....... That is the second worst pedal on the market....

With the right eqing and OD pedal your amp can do megadeth without a distortion pedal....

Alright. Thanks. Before I go to GC, does anyone else have any suggestions in the up-to-$70 price range?

Bad Monkey, still. See if they have a used TS9, or a used BBE Green Screamer.
