I must have came from the wrong side when restringing my les paul, so its resting against the middle peg there as you can see in the pic.

is this okay?

It's not going to ruin them or anything, but it'll only take a minute to correct it.

I agree, it won't hurt, but won't it be annoying having to tune "backwards"?

It'll only affect the lifetime of the strings, and the tuning stability somewhat.

The worst part will only be that you'll have to turn the knobs the opposite way.

Unwind the string and keep doing so until it becomes completely loose then wind it in the same direction until it's back to normal

true, but its only my second time restringing, so its still a pain in the ass to me. I'll fix it if it gets annoying or it won't stay in tune or something

It might buzz a little because it's resting against the string but it shouldnt be anything major

It won't hurt the guitar.

I'd still restring it though. It's not good for tuning stability and people will look at you funny. It should look like this:

This space foreclosed, due to the ailing economy.

The strings should be winding around the pegs towards the exterior. But yeah, it shouldn't do anything bad.

Only it makes tuning backwards, but yeah that's not really a biggy.
