I just bought a Warwick Rockstand 5 guitar stand from GC. It's nice looking and it's got some black foam where you set the guitar. Right now I put a towel down for my guitars that actually have a finish, because I'm not sure if foam will damage Epi. finishes or not. Anyone know for sure? I searched and only found guesses. The towel looks kind of stupid... and I'm a single guy living alone, I have about 5 towels total and I'd like to be able to use it!

it shouldn't hurt it unless it rubs the finish

The Epi should be finished in polyurethane which is pretty sturdy stuff. Unless that foam has been dipped in specialised paint stripper you should be okay.

From everything I've read, it's only the nitro finishes that can be affected by the rubber on guitar stands.

It won't hurt the Epiphone, but it will corrode the finish if it is nictrocellulose. Thats the same type of paint they used in the older guitars, and is why the 'vintage' artist copies always have wood showing, because the paint corrodes easy.
