Oh, DON'T use a knife. It cuts through your strings. I did that once, thinking, its the Low E, its invincible. Turns out, its not...

Damage at the neck join or the headstock join - things that would be expensive to repair.

2. Cracks/splits on the headstock
3. Fret wear
4. Good intonation
5. No warps or cracks in the body/neck

Even if it's an Epiphone, would be worth the money if it's in good condition. Never underestimate the joy of buying a guitar cheap and modding it.

I got a Gibson SG for 150 off my friend Hayes. I didn't actually end up liking it, and I sold it for 650.

Yeah, I'm sweet. But Hayes said I should sell it for as much as I possibly can.

I thought I caught 'the deal of the century' when my friend offered to give me her 'Fender stratocaster MIA' as gas money for giving her rides to work all the time....I was realy excited until I got home and opend the case. It was a Squire, made in japan. and had little girly stickers all over it. I was sad.

I took it...it's just a big let down thinking you get a MIA Strat, and you end up with a Squier.

But yeh...it realy wasn't good at all when it comes to playability it was terible, it did sound decent though. I modded it some and gave it to my gf's lil bro

I bet it's a Chinese fake. If it says Gibson and has a three screw truss rod cover, run, don't walk, away.

11. Bring your amp with you and ask if you can play it on your amp. This is so you're sure that it he isn't just using his amp to make it sound good.

...Wait, am I reading this right? He thought A Squier strat was a Gibson SG?
#19
Who cares if it's real or not... it's 100 bucks. If it turns out to be a fake just put it on display and you have a nice conversation piece.

EDIT: Okay I just read that it turned out to be a squier. ...wtf?...
