I'm just curious. in your opinions, what woods age best on an acoustic as far as tone goes?
Spruce is good.
They all have their differences, but I think spruce has the biggest tonal difference with age - it's impossible to say what's best though.
Basically a Cedar top is a warmer sound and Spruce is a bright sound [especially when new but mellows with age]. Choose the sound you like best is the way to go.
The woods that age best are the ones that sound great when they're new.
alright thanks everyone. im trying to educate myself on all of the tonal qualities of different woods for future reference. im going to set aside money till the end of high school/college to be able to buy a guitar made of all solid wood so it will get better instead of worse with age.
