I'm trying to get a Ceriatone 18 watt TMB head with this. Instead of an attenuator, I figured I'd get this on it.

People tell me even the 18 watt TMB is too loud for bedroom levels. So can this be beneficial?

well even 5 watter valves can get pretty loud. its all about headroom when it comes to wattage. my belief is that "quiet tube amp" is kind of an oxymoron.

that being said, if it sounds good, go for it. you'll still be able to play in your bedroom. hell i get away with 30 watts in an apartment.

copied from marshall amp forums
"A PPIMV is a post phase inverter master volume. This design is different than the pre phase inverter master volume found in most stock Marshall tube amps. The PPIMV requires moving the MV after the phase inverter in the circuit which allows you to use the gain produced by the phase inverter tube. Thereby giving you a more cranked/overdriven sound at lower volumes. The PPIMV works best in any 1959/1987 model amp. There are a few different designs of PPIMVs floating around out there"
