John petrucci is probably my favorite but there are so many that come to mind.. Paul Gilbert, Randy Rhoads, Vai, Satch, DiMeola, Jason Becker, SOO freakin many good guitarists came out in the 80's
well obviously top 2 are Slash and Rhoads. Rhoads had better techniques, but Slash's stuff always sounded more pure and melodic.
