Why? You would just be removing access to the upper frets, and the small addition of wood to the body would do little for the tone.

right, didnt think it through, i was just thinking it would look cool, but as you pointed out (and i just realized) takes the bad features of both and puts it into one hard to access horrible sustaining guitar.

A Les Paul...

U know, the SG is what came out when Gibson created a double cutaway les paul when ppl asked for higher fret access.

But go for it, it would basically just be a flat top les paul though.

i was thinking about it, what would this look like? would it be possible to build? like a les paul with the thinness of a SG?

they did it in the 70's. the gibson l6-s with electronics designed by bill lawrence. it's my favoritest guitar ever. essentially the body is a lp with the thickness of an sg.

Yep... as much as i love my les paul i do find my sg to be easier to play. The only thing i hate about SGs is how they tilt forward if u bend down a little bit and how heavy the neck side can get because it's not that stable on its tilt.

Id imagine it would be like the L6S or whatever those thinline les Paul shaped axes gibson made in the 1970s that the dude out of Razorlight played.

it would be a thin les paul with a sharper (literally) cutaway.
