Hey, sorry I realize there's a sticky, but I need a quick answer.

My Epiphone VJ keeps cutting out, it's the combo version. I'll turn it on and get nothing, play with the volume knob and it'll work for a few seconds, and then when I max the volume it cuts out. I know it's not a problem with the tube as I got that replaced 2 days ago. But I did have it in my suitcase on a plane, could something maybe have been shaken loose?

I'm pretty bummed, the amp is pretty much new and I'm going to a friends house later to jam so a quick answer would be great. Any ideas on what could be wrong and how I can fix it?

I'd still be putting money on the tube. Most likely the tube you put in is a bad one.

Was it the preamp or power amp tube you replaced? If it was the preamp, just plug the old one back in and try it. Not sure if power amp would need rebiasing, considering it's always gonna be an EL84.

Wait, did you replace all the tubes? Because what you're describing sounds like a power tube problem.

I only replaced the preamp. After I replaced that though it worked fine for a pretty good while, I only started having problems with it today after my flight.

So do you guys think I should replace the power tube?

Yeah, it's gotta be your power tube.
