What would be a great book to teach you the theory of music?
Desperate Times, Desperate Measures.
Everyone here swears by Complete Idiots Guide to Music Theory. So try that one. I have MI Harmony and Theory so far it's really good. I don't know if it has a learning curve or whatever it starts with reading notes and then goes to scales and other stuff I haven;t tackled the whole thing but so far its good
The Complete Idiots Guide to Music Theory by Michael Miller is great.

I'm getting blown away.
