hey ug. ive been looking for an amp that can handle high gain well that also fits within a budget of $600. preferably 50 watts or less. doesnt matter if its a single channel amp as long as the single channel is a gain channel. doesnt matter whether its a combo or a head.

no deville, classic 30, windsor, v33, valveking, etc suggestions please, those are not what i'm looking for. i need something that sounds a bit more modern, and is naturally voiced to do high gain.

the type of genres im going for tonewise are metalcore, thrash, speed metal, & black metal.

ive heavily considered the the bugera 333 and b52 at112 but the reliability ive witnessed & read about with both of those amps is enough to make me put them on the back burner for now. a peavey 5150 would be nice but unfortunately where i live its hard to find one used that is reasonably priced.

your suggestions are appreciated. thanks in advance

get a cheap marshall... my MG15DFX has a button that simulates the sound of one of the expensive tube marshall amps.

the bugera's are reliable, its just a lot of people dont know how to take care of them

once you see one break down in the store when your playing it you tend to get a lil turned off. its still in consideration though

ill check out the jsx combo

thanks for the responses so far

If those amps are out of your spectrum, save up some more money, because you will not find an amp that will fit your needs unless you go used.

A Krank Revolution head is 100 watts, but you can pull tubes and make it 50.
You MIGHT, but not likely, be able to find a used JCM 800. Throw a boost in front and you've got your high gain.

Between 8-1200 gets you a used Mark III.

ironically the amp ive been gassing over for the past year has been the rev100 but $1800 is a lot to drop on a head right now though. thanks for the lightbulb though gooley i completely forgot about the rev jr

You just described my amp. The clean channel is beautiful too. Worth a look beyond the usual "get a valveking" posts. Got mine off of craigslist for $360. Voiced very modern marshall, it's sick.

Good luck.

Too bad you don't live in Sacramento. There's a Krank Revolution 100 head on Craigslist for 400 bucks.
