Get a block of wood (preferably alder, but any hardwood) and shape it to as close to the size of the pup route as you can get it, then glue it in there with titebond, then smooth over with wood filler and sand down, and then paint it.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

^ thanks for pointing that out... it is poplar sorry for those who thought it was alder... i was going to buy a alder one untill i saw that this was on sale for 120

i think you should just shell out the extra dough and get a neck pickup. after all, it will give you more tonal variation and such. that's just my two cents though. maybe check out an evolution neck pickup?
Too cool for a signature.

I think there's an alder one for $135 now.

well, you don't need to put a pickup selector switch, could have them both on at the same time and use a push/pull for some single coil action. but i hear ya, your choice. the pickguard idea you have will work.
any pics of the neck? maple? rosewood?

Why did you get the extra cavity if you didn't want it? Don't worry too much about the poplar, I'd say its almost identical to Alder...tone wise.

Good luck on the assemble...lol

Cheers!

depends on the house you want though, every house in the world does not now use wood rather than bricks.
