Though please none of that guitar virtuoso/shred music. I just want good balanced interesting instrumental music.

Suggestions?

Edit: in the title I mean anywhere in the range of rock/prog/metal, doesn't have to be all of these genres. I'd be quite happy if it's just a rock band.

It doesn't have to be prog OR metal, I'm just giving the range or music I'm looking for, basically anything within the broad genre of rock (though preferably with electric guitars).

And those bands are good, but don't have that many instrumental songs. Usually only one or two songs per album, I was more hoping for bands that do entire albums of instrumental stuff.

Neither of those bands have many instrumental songs.

I want COMPLETELY instrumental music.

(Basically I'm looking for music to study to, I can't concentrate with lyrics, but I find instrumental music great for it)

Explosions in the Sky is what you need. I listen to them all the time, especially when i want to relax or be chill. All their music is great.

Dream Theater has tons of very long songs with more guitar than singing. I believe their longest one is around 24 minutes.
mmmmmmhmmm

That's exactly what I've been trying to say.

Animals as Leaders do some great Jazz Metal instrumentals. You'll probably want to look into Post-Rock and Post-Metal as well.

Some real nice selections, Jeff Beck, for our era the father of the guitar instrumentalist rocker. Dream Theater , love them as well. But you cannot answer without

There's a few cool doom metal bands that just do Instrumental music, some really spacey tripper music, "Belzebong: Sonic scapes and weedy grooves" is pretty cool, Bongripper's album Hippie killer is good also. Another band "Brotherhood of Sleep" is alright aswell, Theres quite a few instrumental bands in the doom/Sludge metal genre, Psychedelic rock aswell. Animals as Leaders is also a badass instrumental band as well, and John Petrucci has a album called "Suspended Animation" which is really cool.
