now most of us mod our guitars right by adding new pickups, changing the neck, installing kill switches etc etc. now my question to the pit is at what point does your guitar stop being the same one as the one you started with. for example lets say i modded my first guitar at what point am i no longer able to say, "this is my first guitar".

dont know if im phrasing my question correctly but ive been wondering for a while. so take it away pit

To me the guitar becomes completely different when you change the body and neck.

When you call it by its name.. and it doesn't respond.. then you know it is in fact a different guitar
Up ........... and ................. Down

But in the end its only round and round

It's always the same guitar unless you swap the body, neck, or both. What's with your thread title btw, it sounds like trolling

I haven't changed my first guitar one bit (other than the strings). I just got a new one.

Its kinda like a forced, but needed, evolution, if you wanna get a better sound, feel and what not. Kinda like Certain Pokemon evolve with a stone, and only with a stone. Once it evolves, no going back, you can't press "b" to take back your greediness. Good day.
anybody wanna put anything here just let me know

Bleh,

Kinda reminds me of us human beings, we're everchanging and never static right? So what makes us the same person we are 1 year ago? Our name? But what is in a name that we call rose... for any other name will just smell as sweet.

So what makes us human.

Oh crap! I just realised!

This is just like Trigger's broom!

It had so many different heads and handles that it was hardly the same broom, but he still insisted it was.

i would say that if the body itself is no longer the original body, you've got a different guitar. i see the body as the foundation.

isn't this some kind of famous paradox? like, if you replace every part of an object, is it still the same object?

Yeah, my mate was studying Philosophy and asked me this.
If a man buys a boat, and over the years, he has to repair and replace every single part of the boat, is it still the same boat at the end?

My answer is no. There's nothing left of the original, so it can't be.

Same thing as bands with none of the founding members in.

This is the way I see it. This is what makes the guitar the guitar.
