Hi, I googled a bit to try and find some site that would let me put a chord in and then tell me what it is but no luck so far.

The chord is basically a d minor but with 2 fingers raised (I use it changing back and forth to Dm and it sounds cool).

E -- x
A -- x
D -- x
G -- 0
B -- 3
e -- 0

The actual chord probably has an open note on the D string, I just don't strike it so put it here as muted.

Curious if it is actually some kind of D variation or if its something else altogether.

First, I'll preface with the obligatory "context determines it", but here's that chord working from each root. The notes you have are G D E from low to high.

Root of G: G6(no 3)
Root of D: Dsus2sus4
Root of E: Em7

Thanks!

That's actually really helpful as I can give my song I'm working on a whirl with some Em7 and see how it works. If it's meh I'll just call it Dsus2sus4 (although this is a mouthful to actually say so here's hoping em7 jives :P)
