Hi everyone,

I'm currently hesitating beetween buying a Fender MIM HSS FR strat and a Cort G280 ...
Fender cost is around 650€ and Cort is 500€ in France.

The Cort has wilkinson trem, 22 frets and duncans SSL1/SSL1/JB pickups with coil split (pretty useless though...). On the paper, it looks better than the Fender but you know... it's a FENDER !

Unfortunately, my local guitar store doesn't have the Cort, so I can't try it out

Any help with this ? Opinions about Cort overall quality ?

I like the strat but your link for the strat goes to the Cort... But if it's the Fender with a Floyd Rose then I'd say get that but this is IMO

Cort electrics are pretty mediocre untill you start spending a bit more.

Just play it safe and go Fender.

I'd like to get the Fender but it's quite rare in France, plus it's overpriced...

650€ = $952
Musician's friend price : $500... wtf

Plus, the Cort is 150€ cheaper and looks very near to the MIM quality...
Well I don't know

It's their mid-high end models and has seymour duncans pickups (the same as Jackson Dinkys), I don't think eletronics are **** in this case

fender. double locking system(aka floyd rose)>wilkinson when the tuners are probably okay at best.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

It's far from a mid-high end model.

THAT is a mid-high end Cort.

cort G280 is alright
swamp ash body and graphite nut are pretty decent for the price range

Lol, I knew everybody would recommand Fender... I'm personally more confident in Fender also...

But the Cort has good pickups also and looks competitive in this price range for a slightly lower price ...

Lol... M600 has EMH HZ pickups that don't sound that good and costs 150€ less than the Cort I submited and doesn't have a trem...

Mahogamy wood is a plus though...

I don't know if it's a better guitar since I didn't played the M600 either but the pickups talk for themselves

HH or HSS is about preference...

Refer to the post above you.

I'm just saying that the G280 isn't worth it.

It plays like the G210 which is much cheaper.

And over here in Canada, the M600 is more expensive.

is it in canada? didnt know that
I was taking in prices over there in Korea, where Cort guitars thrive the most
(idk I guess because Cort is Korean company : P)

So you've played all of it and can assure G210 and G280 play the same with so much bridge, wood, pickups differences ? And that M600 with those EMGs are better... ? (sorry I don't like EMGs...)

I know that Fender should be better but I doubt it's worth the 150€ difference beetween the two...

The Fender probably would last longer.

I think it's an OFR aswell, I'm not too sure, but I'm guessing it is. If it is, then it will be a helluvalot better than the Wilkinson bridge.

They PLAY the same. I never said they sounded the same. I'm just saying that the G280 isn't worth it.

With the extra cash, you can swap out the damn pickups and put in BKPs if you wanted.

I own quite a few guitars including 2 American strats and a Cort Korean made g280 and in my opinion for playability and sound the G280 wins hands down, it's cheaper as well.

This is not a criticism of the fenders because I love them, but just a reminder that there are so many great guitars out there.
So don't knock a product until you've actually tried it.

He does have a point. IMO 150 doesn't justify the fact that the guitars' main difference is that one has SDs and one has EMGs. Sure, most people do think that SDs are better, but are they $150 better?

despite being a Fender guy i'd say the Cort was the better deal. for the record the Fender goes for $700 in the US not 5. the SD pickups in the Cort are without a doubt better and the wilkinson trem is excellent as well. unless you need to do some really crazy whammy stuff it should work fine. the Fender is just a MIM strat with a floyd added. while i find MIM's to be good guitars they often need some upgrading which the Cort doesn't seem to need.

I have a fender strat and a strat copy and have played more strat copies than almost any other guitar, but I am so happy with my strat go for the strat. It is reliable and safe too.
It's just the way it is!
