Not the best, but at least in the top 20 (probably #8 or 9):

Song: Orion
Artist: Metallica
Album: Master of Puppets
Composer: Cliff Burton

There is no "best bass solo ever", but here are a few that I really like:

Also, and I know that I will probably receive a little flaming for this, I really don't find Entwistle's 5:15 solo that impressive. Yes, it is fast, but in my mind it pales in comparison to much of the non-solo bass work that he did in the Who. I love Entwistle's basslines but I am just not a fan of this solo piece.
I got in everyone's hostile little face. Yes, these are bruises from fighting. Yes, I'm comfortable with that. I am enlightened.

I think you need to stop caring what people think about it. I stayed home all day today and masturbated like 5 times. Fucking blast.

like his solo more in the ytse jam, or his more melodic solo's in the killing hand, erotomania and trail of tears

I really love Ron Carter. This isn't the greatest performances by him. I was trying to look for a solo I heard him do with Jim Hall, where he sang the solo he was playing. Was really amazing.
If I find it I will post it. It truly blew me away.
