I play in a indie folk punk band (think against me! and Dinosaur Jr.) I need a decent tube combo for around 600$ (Willing to go a little higher.) Looking for a nice sound I can use for punk type strumming. Just a nice overdriven rythm sound. Than I'll probably use a big muff for solos. Any amp suggestions.

I'm not sure what those bands sound like. If you could put up a clip of the type of tone you want to achieve I could probably give you some suggestions of amps that can get that tone.

The other guitarist in my band uses a valveking so I was looking for something else. I'll have to try out the classic 50. But I was looking for more of a vintage type of sound.

Classic 50 is a pretty good choice. Or even a classic 30. If you want something with more gain then a used f-series mesa would be a great choice.

I think it would work great, especially with an overdrive pedal. Might be a bit out of your price range.

Would an AC15 be loud enough for gigs?

Probably not.

If you like the AC30 sound, the Peavey Delta Blues does a decent impersonation. Another good amp for you might be the Traynor YCV 50 Blue - which has more of a Marshall-like sound, but would probably serve you well.

Yes, it's quite loud once you get it up in the volumes and you would probably be getting some pretty sweet tube saturation at that volume. Worst case scenario you have to mic it which isnt uncommon and theres nothing wrong with micing it but you can play it unmiced for any reasonably sized gig. Someone in the house owns one so I've tried it out a few times.

http://albany.craigslist.org/msg/803472738.html Tech 21 for $400 - IMO one of the best SS amps ever made. See people we rec SS here!
http://albany.craigslist.org/msg/784326253.html Here's a Sun 50 watt tube, right at $675. Could get him down a little.
http://albany.craigslist.org/msg/803632336.html Laney 100 watt head, would go with the cab you have but I know you wanted a combo. $600 and may come down a little.
But be patient, a lot of stuff pops up used that is worth looking at since it's local to you. There is a Windsor half stack too for $400. A Delta Blues would be good, selling mine if you are interested. (shameless sales pitch)

I havent tried out the delta blues yet but it sounds like more of a "sweet" sounding overdrive instead of the thick AC15 overdrive. Can it get that type of sound?

I think the Delta Blues has a thicker OD sound to it that the AC15, particularly the 115 model. I'm really not a big fan of the AC15, though. I think it's very overpriced for what it is. There are probably a good number of amps that I'd suggest over that one.

I'll try and find a delta blues to check out. But is there any other amps I could check out that are similar.

If you want a vintage-sounding amp, Classic 50 or 30 is the way to go. I got a Classic 30 and the cleans are amazing and the overdrive is a great, thick, organic overdrive that aches for classic rock and blues.

You also check out the Fender Hot Rod series. Those are great amps.
