The waking world:
(A work in progress)

if we all woke up tomorrow
and our system had caved in
would we rebuild it as it was
or find a brand new way to live
would we finally tear down borders
and live free from oppression
or would we reapply our own restraints
and continue our wealth obsession
for I have a shining vision
of what this life could be
and the revolt doesn't start with a bomb
it must start through you and me

and now I'm planning my escape
from the shackles of the wage
and I'll ask you all to join me
to sing into a new age
because we have all been pushed
and now it's time that we pushed too
and if we band together
there's no limit to what we can do

and when the immovable object
has been struck by unstoppable force
the result is breaking the shackles
from the chains of our death course
the peasants were the ones
that once built castles for the kings
now we'll gladly build them for ourselves
once we're all free human beings
when the masters come back to town
to reclaim what once was theirs
we'll drown out their commands
with our guitars, horns and snares

and now I'm planning my escape
from the shackles of the wage
and I'll ask you all to join me
to sing into a new age
because we have all been pushed
and now it's time that we pushed too
and if we band together
there's no limit to what we can do

I liked it, but I thought that the sheer level of optimism was pure fantasy.

Is it a Ska song?

Yeah, it's definitely fantasy. I tend to write lyrics like that when I'm in a "damn my life is so boring.. I need some sort of drastic change" phase.

It's not a ska song. It's a solo acoustic song right now. I'm still working on the guitar part of the song

How long have you been writting this song?

Honestly? I scribbled it out one day at work when I was bored and never edited it. Haha.

The only thing I feel may need editing is some wording once I get a guitar part settled on so that it fits the rhythm better (since that always happens, regardless of the song, if it's written before guitar) and possibly the order of the lines. Right now I feel it's a bit scattered (since I just wrote the lines as they came to me) and I think I can fix that by just rearranging a couple lines to group the most related ones together.

It´s ok.......but you was deffinitely the last regular from the punk forum I expected to write such a text.......it sounds like a Gospel or a Hippie song, though I appreciate how peaceful this text is

Yeah, I suppose it is a bit hippie-like, but it's more a song saying "do you really want change or do you just want to talk about it? If you were given the opportunity, would you do what's necessary to build the life you talk about or would you take the easy way out and just go about everything the way it was"
