im setting off at bout half 11 to meet people then go down to venue
Im playing as part of a rockschool, a summer school thing designed to help keep kids off street
so me and a couple of others are the only decent musicians there
we've wrote a couple of cool songs and one not so cool song
me, the other guitarist, the bassist and the singer are fine
its just the drummer who always messes it up
and its being filmed
so basically
im nervous as owt
nd dont know wt to do with myself until about 11
ideas people?
atm im typing up lyics and setlists etc

tl;dr
wt do i do to keep me from being nervous

Fap before the show...
Remember you're all being filmed, if the drummer ****s up and you do good, people will realize that and not care.

Heroin seemed to help Kurt Cobain, Elliott Smith, and Layne Staley.

Yeah, write to my fanclub about it, honey.

Practice your stuff THOROUGHLY.

It's natural to be nervous; just do your stuff well, and that's all you can ask for.

It also helped Kurt Cobain realize how much of a piece of **** he was so he shot himself in the face...

We can only hope Corey Taylor and Sully Erna develop a smack problem.

use it to your advantage
before the show, jump around and scream and stuff like a nutjob
itll turn nervousness into energy
but make sure you go to the john before the gig =P
Quotes from other UGers in your signatures that talk about how good you are suck donkey schlong.

I've had a FEW shows
Nothing major, and a few talent shows etc
I was never really TOO nervous but always shaky as hell.
Just remember this, if you're good enough to get a show, then you can't be that bad, so there's no reason to be nervous

im thinking just listen to some crap on my MP3, get really hyped up and hopefully get the rest of my band full of energy

im not worried at all bout the song we're doing without the drummer, that'll be fine
and we've only rehearsed that once
its just the songs with the drummer
and...
heres the bad song lyrics,
should give you some lulz

NOTE: these were written by ten year olds who have now dropped out, but we still gotta perform it

School is Fun
School is great
Better enjoy it while you can
School is fun
School is great
It can help with a future plan

School, Is it a privilege to be there?
Memories you’ll remember good or bad
It’s your choice to like school
Friendships can be made or ended

the irony is that its a pretty good song
a bit poppy, very catchy
shame bout the lyrics

That's a shame. Though, if I recall correctly, the slipknot boys do have a bit of a coke problem.

now now there are lots of good songs about school

like mass nerder from the descendents

"gonna kick there asses in class, gonna get good grades"

epic song.

And the Pink Floyd song... "You're just a-n-o-t-h-e-r... brick in the wall."

Do you want to know what not to do? Don't drink 3/4 of a bottle of sothern comfort an hour before you play.

Realise that if you really are "the only decent musicians there," that everyone will look up to you.

WOW
just got back from the gig
we played awesome
the best we've ever played our songs
we had 3 songs as a whole group and 1 of just me and the singer
we nailed all of em
only made 1 mistake all the way thru
not bad considering we'd only played one of the songs twice before
jesus im on a high right now
