How about a violin concerto?

Max Bruch's first in G minor. Look for the one with Kyung Wha Chung playing.

Great-another thread where some kid asks for classical music (but it has to be dark cause thats brootal!) and a bunch of people give him the most well known, generic pieces around. I reccomend buying albums and listening to them start to finish. That will help you much more than listening to "Fur Elise" for the 200th time.
#17
Ya Chopin and Wagner would be my recommendations. Chopin is like underlying, very subtle darkness. And Wagner, well he just craps darkness. Please don't sig that.

Holst, Brahms, Bruch, and Mozart are not generic.

Bach's toccata may be over suggested by guitarists because "omg u kan liek tap it", but it's still a decent piano toccata. He has better ones though.

And if you want to be anal about it, there's no classical "albums". That's not the proper label.

Ever think that these tracks are actually pretty good for getting an idea of what a composer is like and are easily found?

I'm not trying to act badass. I dont like creating conflict over the internet. Its pointless and a waste of time. So stop. I'm allowed to have an opinion.

BTW I made the username years ago, and now I wish I had a differant one.

Plus, Alexi Laiho covered it.

But seriously, I think Bach's Fugue in A minor is quite dark.

There are a lot of fugues in a lot of keys for a lot of instruments by a lot of people.

Classical music titles are not "names". They're indicators. They tell you what kind of composition and form, in what key, for what instruments. Some of the more famous composers have their own catalogue number for reference. For example, Bach has BWV1-a lot.

Yeah, I don't listen to a lot of classical music and that was just the first thing that came to mind.

Well, this is one of the violin fugues in A minor:

But Bach has an assload of fugues for other instruments, some of them in A minor also.
