I'm 16 and I decided to get off my ass (finally) and look for a job. I asked for applications all over my local mall and ended up going to places like Old Navy, Hot Topic, ect. One place in particular that I went to was Zumiez. My question is that if it is still a good idea to try applying to zumiez even though I have no knowledge of Skateboards, or of any other "board" for that matter. Will it matter THAT much if I don't know? Would they still consider hiring me?

And don't tell me to learn to skateboard or anything like that. I tried getting into it but I quite frankly hated it.

Thanks for any help given

Why would you get a job which you needs the pits help?

And yes, knowledge of skateboards would be needed.

yeah, zumiez employees have to know what they're doing. you have to atleast know about the brands, how they work, etc. just get a job where you feel comfortable.

There is only one requirement for working at Zumiez: you have to be HXC/emo/mallgoth/faggoth/etc...

you shouldnt have to know a whole lot, just be able to read labels and stuff like that.
most people either know a hell of a lot and know what they want or dont know jack **** and you can just hand them anything.

Well obviously, Zumiez is out of the question now, lol.

But just one more thing. Since i'm 16 and a minor, do I need to hand in some sort of working papers? I remember hearing about this in school and that everyone who is thinking about getting a first job needs them. But when I look at the application papers or the company websites, they say nothing about needing these papers. Sooo, should I try to get them filled out first, or should I just go right into sending in my applications?

I read the title as "Need help with first fist job"
Josh Homme writes the greatest lyrics EVAR:
"I wish we could get away
Drink wine and screw"

"Nicotine, valium, vicodin, marijuana, ecstasy, and alcohol
C-C-C-C-Cocaine!"

"I wanna lick you too much"

?? Is that in the USA?

I've been working since I was 14 and I've never needed any sort of permit from school or anything.

TS: You'll need specialist knowledge to work in somewhere like a skate shop, try something more generic or that requires minimal training. Look into clothes shops, music/media shops, coffee shops/cafes, restaurants/waiting. Also try pubs and restaurants for washing-up jobs. The work isn't massively exciting but at the end of the day it's money in your pocket.
