Alright, this may seem like quite the strange question. But it's been bugging me. I listen to a lot of metal, and I love the sound of a good old fashioned pickslide. When I try to do likewise, it sounds like I'm slowly, painfully pulling up a rusty zipper instead of the ferocious eagle scream of the pickslides we know and love.

I have lots of gain. I have a pick. I have strings that, as far as I know, are not pickslide-resistant. Why can I not get a decent sounding pickslide? Are there any sorts of techniques employed to get a good slide sound?
