Got any ideas on a good guitar? Here are my preferences:

  • No Gibson body shapes (i.e. SG or Les Paul)
  • No pick guard
  • Superstrat shape preferred, but V or w/e is acceptable (But don't want an actual Strat)
  • Fast neck
  • 24 frets preferred, but not necessary
  • Tremolo preferred
  • Decent pickups (no single coil)
  • Seven string preferred but not necessary
  • Around $400-500-600

I play mostly metal, Dream Theater stuff, symphony x, yngwie, paul gilbert, stuff like that.

you forgot what music you play and your amp.
Maybe Schecter although the neck is fast for some slow for others, you could get a decent jackson for that price too, and perhaps look at the assassin (i think) series BC Rich's if you can get over the fact it's bc rich.

He did sa what music he plays... and yeah, a decent jackson would be fine Maybe a soloist? (If it falls into your price range, not too sure with jacksons)

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

I might be looking at a Jackson Soloist 2nd hand (i.e. doesn't cost $1000)

Are there any notable 7 stringers? I'm currently waiting for Rondo to restock their 7 strings so I can get one.

yeah, look at the one I suggested.

+1. These are great 7-strings.

Carved top, finishes, neck shape (I think.). Maple top, EMG 85 in the neck as apposed to an 81 which is in the M-400. Mahogany body instead of Alder.
Signatures are overrated.
