Hey, I am now writing a song myself, which has a riff that goes from Am to G to Dm7, I was wondering if anybody has some tips to make up another riff that harmonizes with the riff beginning in Am, like in what key and stuff, or just chords that can be played along Am, G, and Dm7.

Most people harmonize in 3rds or fifths.

Look it up on youtube RedSgShredder has a good video on harmonizing.

if you are harmonizing chords it depends upon what sounds good(so it can jump around from 3rds to 5ths)... although i have never heard of doing so? i usually do like an AM/C an aminor with a C bass. but if your talking about melody and that is alot easier

Too bad that my computer is nearly crashing, it already takes two minutes to load the front page of UG, but I will keep it in mind and I will look it up once I got a new computer, since this one is beyond repair, as they said to me.

And thank you too, Ms Tickley, I tried it, and I think I could play it together as chord =).
