Starting a new thread to focus on my current problem.

I'm running guitar through m-audio fast track usb. I can get it to record but the sound quality is absolute crap. Totally bland, no effects at all, sounds almost like one of those midi's from old sega games its so bland.

Basically I'm pretty sure all I need is an amp for it. I've got my practice amp but changing the settings seems to do nothing, except when I flick the distortion on I get distortion :S Which is to say it sounds about 20x better if I just unplug the cord from the amp to the USB box and just play it with the amp.

Someone suggested guitar rig - i downloaded guitar rig 2 demo, installed, as soon as I go to open it it says trial has already expired. So I tried some other thing called studio devil, but all it gives me is 2 .dll's, no software for an actual amp :/ Finally I have GT express which I've been told is an amp software but I see nowhere in it that I could setup anything like treble, bass, middle, or turn distortion up/down on/off...

Please help, hitting stone wall after stone wall trying to record with this thing is drivin me bonkers ><

those 2 .dll files for studio devil are called VST Plugins and can be used in conjunction with programs such as FL Studio or Cubase.

Try this software. http://www.sonomawireworks.com/T4/

You can load Studio Devil from here, along with guitar rig, waves gtr3, and it includes a slim-down version of amplitube 2.

Hope this helps!

Sigh, I'm starting to wonder if all of this **** is just too complicated for me.

I download that riftworks software, run it, and I can't hear anything when I hit play, I also see nowhere ont he interface where I can open either studio devel or mydrummer or anything else.

Edit - ok so if I plug headphones into the USB unit I can now here the drums... but there is no way to get it through my speakers apparently :/

Edit2 - its also totally not obvious how the heck to "make" a drum track with this... there is 1 default track that I can warp and stuff but I don't see anywhere where it says "add snare" "add cymbal" and set speed intensity etc :/
