I reccomend winamp it has a very good interface for transferring songs from ipod to computer, or idump though the extra feature sin winamp make it the better choice in my opinion.

Plug your IPOD into a USB, copy.. paste.

Or was that too simple?

Yes

Because iPod files are protected, you need other software to do it.

Use google

It can do everything itunes can including transferring songs to ipod and it also uses less memory than itunes so runs faster, also as mentioned can trnasfer songs to hard drive in one click.

I once downloaded some software to get the songs off my ipod and onto my hdd, but i can't remember the name.
Just google it.
Don't use winamp if you solely want to transfer the songs, but if your looking for a good player i recommend it.
I love white guitars!

Go to My Computer and access the iPod from there. Go through the music files and paste it.

It works for my Zen.

Go to My Computer, then click on whatever your iPod's name is.
Then go to Tools, the Folder options. Click the View tab then check the "Show hidden files and folders". You should be able to move the files from your iPod to your Desktop or wherever. Hope this works.
