I was just chilling in my friend's garden when all of the sudden I see this thing crawling up a tree, I go to see what it is and notice it's a Chameleon.
I have never seen a Chameleon outside a zoo or a pet store, and they are quite expensive, so I instantlty catch it, run home and make a small house for it (temporary house, I'm getting a small aquarium and decorating it amazon style)

Ya, Chameleons are pretty badass.

Pics:

I've got some questions for people that have pet Chameleons:

What is the name of this type of Chameleon?

I can't find 30 bugs a day, so is there anything else it eats (vegetables etc, easy stuff to find)?

What should I name it?

You buy grasshoppers from a pet store to feed to them I think.

Second pic is pretty ****ty, but that's awesome.

Idiot

Cameleons can die of shock instantly from being handled

Fair enough you wanted to share this with the pit. True, its pretty badass, but you shouldnt ask the pit wat to feed it

Google "how to keep cameleons" and you might get some real answers

I heard they can't do excessively bright, unnatural colours.

They were on the verge of extinction in the 80's.

Chameleons change colour by mood not environment its not a stealth tactic

No, it likes to crawl up my hand, and if you read my post I already said that i'm getting an Aquarium.

I have a Chameleon. If your serious about keeping that thing, you better learn how to take care of it. They are pretty specific in what they need.

First off, you need to source some proper heat and UVB lighting for it. As well as crickets or hoppers you need to find some calcium/vitamin dust to put on the locusts, otherwise it'll end up with bone disorder.

I'd also find something else to live in, Chameleons are Arboreal, meaning they live in tree's, I know from experience that they like to be high up, that chameleon is gonna be pretty stressed.

I'd also try not to handle it too much for now, again you can seriously stress out a Chameleon, and if they get too stressed they end up sitting in a corner and starving themselves to death.

You asked what type of Chameleon that is, and it looks like a Veiled Chameleon (Yemen Chameleon is its other name, same as mine).

But seriously bud, unless you want to kill it, I would get it to the nearest pet store and try to find out how to look after it. As I said they are pretty specific in what they need. If buying a Chamelon outright is too expensive for you, you will really struggle with both the upkeep of them and the initial housing you will need to buy.

I'd release it. Doesn't look like a good home for more than 6 seconds.

I doubt it wants to be there if it's always lived in the "wild".

Do the right thing. Put it back.

Tits on a whale

Take the chameleon and move it around the house observing colour changes to find the most chameleon approved location.

If you're serious about taking care of it, take it to a vet. It seems to be wild, so you don't know what parasites/diseases it may have.

Only buy insects from stores, as the insects you find could have pesticides.

Get a reptarium.

Remember to clean it's habitat regularly.

If you like picking up your pets a lot... don't. Chameleons don't really like to be picked up and are angered when you touch them on sensitive parts of their body such as their back.

EDIT: Depending on the kind of chaemeolon it is, past 4-6 months, an aquarium won't be big enough. You NEED a reptarium.

Try and distinguish it's age, because if it's not at least 2 months old, release it or it'll probably die.

You don't want an Aquarium for a chameleon, unless you do in fact plan on killing it. Get a terrarium, or whatever the hell it's called :P
#33
try to make it red... that would be awesome...

no, but seriusly find out what it needs and keep it, feed it and treat it well

He should eat it then.

I'd also mention bud, that Chameleon looks terrified. I'd seriously consider putting it back or handing it in to a pet store, depending on wether you do have Wild Chameleons living where you do.

Is that poop in the pictures?
