Hey guys. I just got a Gibson SG special for my 15th birthday on craigslist for 300 bucks. Good deal, right? Well everytime i bend the g string, or even strike it, it pops out of the nut. It looks like it wasnt cut in deep enough. Does anyone have any info on this, and what should i do? Thank you!

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

NO!!! Don't do it yourself. the nut is generally not a DIY type of thing. Bring it to someone who knows what they're doing.
