whoa, just buy some other wood and build it from that, not a perfectly fine working acoustic, even if its 30 bucks.

thats just my opinion, if it works, itll look awesome, if not, i feel bad for the guitar

I love the way you just moved the sound hole back as if it was an inconvenience! This is going to be fun!

Why waste an entire new thread on this?

Because the dumbasses in the last one wouldn't shut up and the thread became a spam/flame-fest.

Once again, TS, good luck.

I would recommend sanding the old blue finish off and applying new black stuff. I don't know much about it, but there are tutorials on the net.

Not sure what you're going to do about the bracing, in order to move the soundhole, but remember - it's gotta be strong. Acoustic guitar strings, fully tuned, bring about 185lbs of pressure. Whatever you do, make sure it's rock solid.

And I don't know how you're going to go about bending the sides for the horns - that usually requires specialist equipment. Not to mention putting new bindings on it, to hold the top on.

And, hey, don't worry if you screw it up, it was only 30 quid. It's always worth experimenting on a cheapo guitar.

Nevertheless, I wish you the best of luck

Thanks Fams.
Uhm..Imma cut out like a thin 8" square and cut a square out of the acoustic lay in and support mega much underneath and the sound hole will be down 3 inches.
with the neck.

And same here, i was gonna buy a Kay on ebay just like jacks and put a pickup in that aswell.

this seems like one of those ideas where it's probably easier to build the acoustic from scratch instead.

A propane torch, lead pipe, and bucket of water aren't specialist pieces of equipment imho.

By 'bindings', I think you mean kerfing.

And yes Jables does rock. Rage is way underrated, though.

You're going to move the neck back?

Plans to move the bridge back to compensate?

I'm concerned about the bracing. You need to actually move all the bracing as well, or this thing will fold up even without the double cutaways.

It would be nice to get your hands on both a right handed and a left handed version of the same single cut guitar, then cut pieces off the lefty to make the second cutaway. That actually sounds like something that would work.

Good luck with this, though. I can't wait to see pics of the progress.
All my photobucket pics are dead so no links to my guitar build threads.

Sir, the pictures posted in this thread have no relevance to this thread whatsoever. We here at UG are fully and wholely reliant on the "Pictures or it didn't happen" rule.

Therefore, Pics, or this aint' happenin'.

wait, did you just turn an acoustic into a v?

i have a yamaha c-40 you could do that with, I've always wanted a V
#40
Yawn. The last thread pretty much proved this is not possible, and it only became off topic because we all know you cannot make an SG acoustic by cutting semi-circles out a normal acoustic or whatever you were going to to.

So.... TS stop spamming pics of that damn V all over this thread, this isn't the "OMG guyz look at my amazing V" thread is it?
