Hiya, I've been told that the best thing for me to buy would be a new guitar.

So, what would be a good guitar for me to buy next? ATM I have a tanglewood strat rep and a microcube. I play a variety of rock generally, from Metallica to GnR. I play a lot of muse too, them being my favourite band. And I've been playing about 8 months.

Budget ATM is about £230 , but could stretch to about 300.

Thanks.

What kind of music do you play matey?
Are you happy with the sound you get from you microcube or are you wanting something louder or better tone?

Epiphone les paul standard!
Have you any preferences on body style and if you want a vibrato?

I would actually prefer not to have a vibrato. I've heard it can make tuning a problem.

How is the quality of an epiphone les paul standard compared to strat copy?
#8
Much better!
People will say the epiphone's quality isn't the best but for the money you pay it is brilliant!
The standard pickups are the main let down with the epiphones but you its not worth replacing until you have a good tube amp, because then you will hear the difference

get a PRS SE line guitar, like the custom or singlecut guitar. $500-600 for one (don't know what that is in euros) but realy the best guitar you will buy for the money, and perfect for any modern rock tone like muse. don't get fooled into getting an epiphone my friend. PRS has the quality of guitars you need.

and kelvin, you will want an electric guitar, the range of tones you can get out of them is something you will fall in love with and regret not having one if you go acostic.

Don't hijack threads

Epiphone les paul standard - http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/epiphone-les-paul-standard/870

and PRS se's aren't covered too that budget (£200 - £300) but... http://www.guitar.co.uk/prs_guitars/542-prs_tremonti_se_electric_guitar comes closest.
