Hi, I recently got a new 2008 Epiphone Les Paul Custom, and it play very well, the action is spot on and I dont have any fretbuzz or playability issues. But I recently saw that my neck and headstock looked a bit weird, in comparison to my Pacifica which lay flat sitting down. Here's a picture I took of it.

Now I'm just asking, are Les Pauls meant to be like that? Or is my neck bent?

it's supposed to be like that, to make up for the carved top (why the hell did I say neck angle?) and TOM height.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

the headstock is really angled thus it will be like that when you lay it on its back.

EDIT: how high is your action? jusging from the picture, i think it's pretty high.
