So my computer is Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002. Recently, around the release of it, I installed XP Service Pack 3. As soon as I did this, there were small malfunctions in Media Center, minor things, but that still meant something for me. Windows Messenger wasn't starting up etc etc
And now Media Center occasionally crashes, which is really becoming a problem.
I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with a virus.
Can anyone suggest what might be wrong and/or how to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Any new updates?

Other than that your only options are to rollback to SP2 or format/reinstall xp pro/linux with third party media centre software like xbmc.

i had problems with SP3 too, but not dealing with media center.
i couldn't do anything online. it kept giving me little or no connectivity, and wouldn't work.
once i uninstalled it, it worked fine.

new problem, i uninstalled it and rolled back to sp2, then media center got even more messed up, so i decided to choose the lesser of two evils and stick with sp3
once you go sp three there's no going free
