Hey. I've been trying to write some stuff for my band, and I've been working in Drop D because I couldn't write riffs in E, and it's kind of backfired. I find I'm stuck in two chord progressions, and I can't seem to find anything that works. D-F-G-Eb and D-Bb-C-Bb (0r F).

Is there another progression I can do in D? My music theory's kind of spotty at best, so sorry if this is stupid.

Why play in Drop D if it's not working for you?
Change the tuning, chuck on a capo or something.
Strange and wonderful things happen in different keys.

I would and in some songs, I do. But I can't write riffs in standard. It's a lot harder.
