Well I turned on my amp yesterday and no sound was coming out. So I turned it around and lo and behold, one of the pre-amp tubes was not lighting up at all. Thinking I found the problem, I switched out the tube. After turning the amp back on the new tube is still not lighting up. None of the channels produce any sound at all and guitar and cable works fine on my other amps.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? I pretty much know nothing about this crap. I'm only asking as I won't be able to take it to a tech for a while.

Is the speaker plugged in? Is the volume turned up on the amp? What kind of amp is it?
I don't give a shit if you listen to me or not

It's a combo amp, an RG50TC, and of course I checked the volume. Even with the volume up all the way on each channel it produced no results.

What about the speaker? Are all the cables inside the amp plugged in properly? Does the switch on the front light up when you turn it on? If the amp doesn't turn on at all then it may be a fuse. Check to see it's plugged in. I'm not trying to belittle you, even the best of us can miss something simple like this.

The amp lights up seems to work fine apart from the fact that one tube does not light up and no sound comes out at all. Everything inside the amp looks connected and fine to me, and the speaker even hums when I turn it up. Do you think it could possibly be a problem with the tube socket? It was working perfectly fine one day and now nothing.

Also, sorry to come across like an asshole I guess I'm just a little aggravated

I understand it's no biggie

Maybe it's your guitar? Can you try it with a different guitar? If the you can hear humming from the speaker I would think the amp is doing something.

Well I tried the same guitar and cable on a different amp and it worked perfectly fine so its not the guitar. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you try the other input on the amp?

Also, if it's got an FX loop, try pluggin into the power amp in or fx in. If it works like that then you know somethings wrong with the preamp section. If it doesn't work like this the the whole amp has a problem.

I had this same problem with a brand new RG50TC, so I sent it back. I think its either a broken power transformer or some other internal connection that's broke.

Did the volume drop before it cut out completely? (ie the day before)

Ahh ****, I bought it off of ebay, and had it rebiased and retubed. I wasn't playing when it happened, I just turned it on and it didn't work. Neither input works, but when I plug it into the fx loop it works. I'm guessing there must be a problem with the tube socket then, I'll try plugging in another tube. Thanks dudes.

^Definitely the preamp amp. Are you sure the tube is pushed in all the way? I've accidentally not pushed in a preamp tube all the way before.

It's definitely a problem with the the amp itself and not the tube. I replaced the one not lighting up with 3 different tubes and it didn't work at all, and they were all tightly locked in. I guess I'll just have to take it to the tech.
